An average of at least two minors were raped every day in Delhi, the capital of India last year. Among the metropolitan cities of the country, Delhi is the most unsafe city for women, according to a report by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) of India on Tuesday.
- According to the report, 13 thousand 892 cases of crimes against women were registered in Delhi last year. Which is 40 percent more than the previous year. In 2020, 9,782 cases of crimes against women were registered in Delhi. According to the National Crime Records Bureau, Delhi accounts for nearly 32 percent of the total number of crimes against women among the country’s 19 metropolitan cities.
- Mumbai, the country’s commercial capital, has the second highest number of crimes against women after Delhi. In 2021, there were 5 thousand 543 cases of crimes against women in this metropolis.
- Next is Bangalore; There have been 3 thousand 127 cases. About 12.76 percent of the total crimes committed in the country’s 19 cities were recorded in Mumbai and 7.2 percent in Bengaluru.
- Besides, Delhi has the highest number of cases of kidnapping of women (3,948), husband torture (4,674) and rape of minors (833) compared to other metropolitan cities of the country with more than 2 million people.
